| We met at Roa
Island at 09:30 hrs and looked forward to a great dive. The tides were
perfect for diving this area, but the breeze had kicked up a line of
silt from the lifeboat slip to the mussel banks to the left of the
jetty. This did not worry us as blue water could be seen just beyond the
silt line which indicated the viz was going to be ok. Mind you, if you
get more than 2 -3 m in there, you are really on a winner. |

| After
discussing the excellent condition and top of the range stylishness of
Paul’s pickup, (which I would by if it was for sale) we kitted up and
with buddy checks and the plan sorted in we went, net bags at the ready
for lobsters, crabs and whelks. |
|
|
|
We headed
southerly first across the channel and dropped down to max depth in the
middle and proceeded to work our way up the channel towards westwards,
crisscrossing as we went to find the big rocks. Even though it is just
the channel it is teaming with life, there was edible crabs, lobsters,
anemones, spider crabs, whelks and a keenly camouflaged scorpion fish
(clocker) to name but a few. |
| |
| This was a
cracking dive even though the viz was not the red sea, we ended up with
lobster , crabs and whelks, and met Scott from the aquarium of the
lakes, who Paul went back in for, for some starfish, crabs and other
stuff for the aquarium, we also give them two lobsters. |
|
|
|
Scott asked for a
call when we go in again, to get more critters for the aquarium. All in
all it was a good dive. |
